Taking Care of Our Own

Providing educational opportunities for bartenders and their families.

Giving Back.

Helping bartenders and their families reach their educational goals.

To help bartenders and their families pay for educational expenses, a non-profit organization called the Bartenders’ Foundation, Inc. has been founded by Ray Foley, the Publisher of BARTENDER® Magazine.

"This is all about taking care of our own," says Foley. "There are nearly 300,000 bartenders in the U.S. who spend their careers taking care of people, but who's taking care of them?"

The Bartenders’ Foundation hopes to recognize and help these hard-working professionals.

Ray Foley, a former bartender and family man himself, says he hopes to raise over $1,000,000 a year to help bartenders and their families pay for educational expenses and encourage high schoolers to go to college.

The first-of-its-kind Foundation raises scholarship money by soliciting major distillers, beer and spirits wholesalers, taverns, bartenders and bar patrons.

Ray Foley who has delighted and informed bartenders across the U.S., and now worldwide, with his witty and popular BARTENDER® Magazine and cocktail books, believes its all part of giving back to the profession that has given him so much.

The scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis, based on grades and scores, goal statement, and work and volunteer experience.

The Foundation is currently raising money with the goal of awarding one scholarship in each of the 50 states in a few years.

Congrats to Sophia Lopardo on receiving a scholarship from The Bartendenders' Foundation®. Sophia will be attending University of Rhode Island. Her Father Kenneth has been a Bartender at Mohegan Sun since 1996. Job well done by both!
